Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Kharge, Priyanka Among Other Top Profile Politicians To Attend CM-Designate Omar Abdullah’s Swearing-in Ceremony

Srinagar: In a significant development, Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi are set to attend the swearing-in ceremony of CM-designate Omar Abdullah, reports said.

Rahul, Kharge and Priyanka would be among a long list of guests who would grace the occasion as Omar Abdullah would be the first Chief Minister to take oath after the demotion of State of Jammu and Kashmir to a Union territory after the constitutional developments of August 5, 2019.

Rahul and Priyanka had also been among the star-campaigners of Congress in the recently concluded Assembly elections. The party ended up securing only six seats, however not stopping it be a part of the upcoming government as the grand old party of India had already entered into a pre-poll alliance with National Conference which secured a mammoth figure of 42 seats alone.

There are many other high-profile guests including former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and senior Samajwadi Party leader Akhliesh Yadav, Supriya Sule, Prakash Karat, Kanimozhi, Comrade D Raja, and others who already have arrived in Srinagar.

The swearing-in ceremony is set to be held in SKICC Srinagar tomorrow (Wednesday) amid tight secuity arrangements.
