Kupwara: In a firm action against the illicit drug trade and its associated criminal networks, Kupwara Police have attached two residential properties in Karnah under Section 68A of the NDPS Act. These properties, owned by individuals involved in organized drug trafficking, were found to have been acquired using illegal proceeds, said a Police Spokesman.
One of the properties belongs to Zakir Hussain Shah, son of Ali Hyder Shah, a resident of Takiya Bahadarkote, the Spokesman said in a statement issued to Alfaaz – The Words, further informing that the house was seized in connection with FIR No. 78/2020, registered at Police Station Karnah, under various sections of the NDPS Act, the Indian Arms Act, and the UAPA. “Authorities had earlier recovered 5 kg of heroin, five pistols, and other arms and ammunition from his possession and investigations confirmed that the house was built using earnings from drug smuggling.”
“Similarly, the Police attached the house of Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, son of Habibullah Khan, a resident of Chitterkote Karnah, linked to FIR No. 38/2022,” the Spokesman said. His case, he said, involved the recovery of 7 kg of heroin and two IEDs, leading to charges under the NDPS Act, the Explosive Substances Act, and the UAPA. “Officials established that his property was financed through illicit drug money, contributing to an organized criminal syndicate.”
“As per legal directives, these properties cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority,” the Spokesman asserted.
The decisive action, the Spokesman said, underscores Kupwara Policeโs commitment to dismantling drug-linked criminal networks that undermine peace and security.
