Kupwara Hosts Maiden Snow Volleyball C’ship

Kupwara: The Volleyball Association of Kupwara, in collaboration with the District Administration Kupwara and under the aegis of the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir, successfully organized the First Snow Volleyball Championship 2025.

The championship was proudly sponsored by DDC Rajwar Mir Sulaiman and Executive Engineer R&B Division Handwara Farooq Ahmad Shah.

This historic event, part of the Winter Carnival 2025, showcased the beauty of Kupwara while highlighting the growing enthusiasm for sports in the region. The event attracted 12 teams from kupwara district making it a significant milestone in the promotion of snow volleyball as an emerging sport in the region.

A special vote of thanks was extended to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Miss Ayushi Sudan (IAS), for her exceptional support and guidance in organizing the championship. Her proactive role and commitment to promoting sports in Kupwara played a pivotal role in the event’s success.

Similarly, heartfelt gratitude was expressed to DDC Rajwar, Mir Sulaiman, and Executive Engineer, R&B Division Handwara, Farooq Ahmad Shah, whose generous sponsorship and encouragement helped make the event possible.

The championship culminated in an exhilarating final match between Khelo India Centre, Handwara, and Magam Volleyball Club. In a tightly contested battle, Khelo India Centre, Handwara, clinched the championship with a 2:0 victory, securing set scores of 15:12 and 15:11. The match was a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of the participating teams.

Officials from the Volleyball Association of Kupwara as per Organising Secretary Volleyball Association Kupwara Hafiz Ismael Lone, expressed their gratitude to all stakeholders, particularly DC Kupwara Ayushi Sudan, for her invaluable support and for making this event an integral part of the Winter Carnival. The association also thanked the sponsors, participants, and spectators for contributing to the event’s resounding success.

The First Snow Volleyball Championship 2025 has set a strong foundation for the promotion of snow volleyball in Kupwara, with plans to establish it as an annual feature in the region’s sports calendar.
