Kupwara: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Bala Saheb Suse, on Tuesday assured that the district administration will extend all possible support to the family affected by a devastating fire that broke out in Malik Mohalla during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
The Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by senior officials, visited the site early Tuesday morning and directed revenue authorities to carry out an immediate assessment of the losses.
โTragically, the fire claimed the life of a young individual, while another person was seriously injured and is currently receiving treatment,โ the Deputy Commissioner said. He added that health officials have been instructed to ensure the injured individual receives the best possible medical care.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that the mortal remains of the deceased were being transported to their hometown for the funeral and had reached near Nagrota at the time of reporting.
Following the incident, the administration swiftly mobilised Fire and Emergency Services, with police personnel and local residents assisting in controlling the blaze. Despite prompt action, one life could not be saved.
The Deputy Commissioner said the Revenue Department has been asked to expedite the assessment of property damage. โThe affected family will be provided all necessary assistance as per the norms,โ he added.
