Srinagar: Intense cold conditions tightened their grip over Kashmir on Saturday, with mercury levels dipping further across the Valley. Shopian remained the coldest spot, recording a minimum temperature of –6.4°C, as per official data.
Pulwama and Pampore followed with minimum temperatures of –5.2°C, while Baramulla and Anantnag recorded lows of –5.1°C and –4.9°C respectively.
At Srinagar Airport, the night temperature settled at –4.8°C, while Pahalgam recorded –4.4°C and Qazigund –4.2°C. In the summer capital, Srinagar city registered a low of –4.1°C, matching Budgam’s reading.
Awantipora recorded –3.8°C, followed by Kupwara at –3.5°C and Bandipora at –3.4°C. Ganderbal witnessed –3.1°C, while Sonamarg and Gulmarg logged minimum temperatures of –3.0°C and –2.6°C respectively.
Kulgam saw a relatively milder night at –1.2°C, whereas Kokernag remained the warmest location in the Valley with a minimum of –0.2°C.
Officials said the cold wave is expected to persist, with sub-zero temperatures likely to continue across most parts of Kashmir in the coming days.
