Srinagar: Awami Itihad Party (AIP) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prioritize the Sadhna Pass Tunnel in Karnah Kupwara. This long-awaited project, initiated by MoRTH and BRO, promises all-weather connectivity to the remote regions of Karnah and Tangdhar, which remain cut off during harsh winters, severely impacting trade, tourism and healthcare.
AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi in a media statement emphasized the tunnel’s transformative potential and also appealed for the construction of similar tunnels for Machil, Gurez, Vailoo-Kishtwar and Shopian-Surankote, ensuring round-the-clock connectivity across Jammu and Kashmir.
Inam, as per Alfaaz – The Words, further urged the PM to release incarcerated MP Er Rasheed, who secured a democratic mandate while in Tihar Jail, representing 18 Assembly constituencies, 40% of the Valley’s population. “Releasing Er Rasheed would honor the people’s will and restore their faith in justice,” he added.
Additionally, the AIP called for the release of prisoners , restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir besides emphasizing the need to address grievances of the Jammu and Kashmir.
