Srinagar: Kamran Mohammad Shamas has made history by becoming the first Kashmiri athlete to win a gold medal in Wushu at the prestigious 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand. Competing in the Sanda 90+ kg category, Kamran showcased an extraordinary display of skill and dominance, securing a swift knockout in the semifinal and a decisive victory in the final.
His triumph marks a major milestone for Jammu and Kashmir’s sports community, highlighting the region’s rising talent in martial arts. Kamran’s gold was part of an impressive overall performance by the J&K Wushu team, which secured a total of seven medals at the event.
Expressing his gratitude, Kamran credited his coaches and the J&K Sports Council for their unwavering support in his journey. With his eyes now set on the World Championship, he remains determined to bring more laurels to the region.
