Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has issued a notice stating that application forms for candidates who exceed the age limit for the JK Police Constable Recruitment Examination will be accepted in offline format today, 30th November 2024.
This decision follows a recent interim order from the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, which directed the JKSSB to provisionally consider these candidates, allowing them to participate in the recruitment process, reported news agency KDC.
The candidates, listed in the petition WP(C) No. 2159/2024 titled Deepak Sharma & 78 Ors vs UT of J&K & Ors, had challenged the age restrictions imposed on the recruitment, citing delays in the recruitment process due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The court’s interim order allows the petitioners to sit for the upcoming exams, although their participation will not guarantee preferential treatment, and any final appointment will depend on the court’s ruling.
In accordance with the court’s directive, the JKSSB has informed the concerned candidates that their application forms will be received in offline mode.
For Jammu-based candidates, application forms will be received at JKSSB Office, CPO Chowk Panjtirthi, Jammu.
For Kashmir-based candidates, the forms will be received at JKSSB Office, Zam-Zam Complex, Rambagh, Srinagar.
The application forms will be accepted from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM today, with candidates required to submit the forms along with the requisite fee, as outlined in Advertisement No. 01 of 2024 dated 16th July 2024.
In addition, candidates must provide four recent passport-size photographs, a valid ID proof indicating name, parentage, and residence, and an affidavit in the prescribed format (Annexure B) of the notice as part of their submission.
While the forms are being processed for the age-relaxed candidates, the recruitment exams will proceed as per the original schedule. The written examination for the Armed/IRP/Executive/SDRF*category candidates is set to take place on 1st December 2024, with exams for Telecommunications and Photographer posts scheduled for 8th December and 22nd December respectively.
Over 5.5 lakh applicants are set to compete for 4002 vacancies of Constables.
