Kupwara: Dr. Shubhra Sharma, Mission Director of the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), conducted an intensive visit to Ramhal, Batergam, Trehgam, and Drugmulla blocks on Sunday, reviewing JKRLM’s district-wide implementation, inaugurating livelihood projects, and interacting with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and field functionaries.

During her tour, Dr. Sharma held detailed discussions with field staff to evaluate livelihood intervention progress. She inspected agriculture-based livelihoods and dairy units at Batergam and Deedikoot (Kupwara Block), engaging women farmers and entrepreneurs. At Ramhal, she inaugurated a hollow brick unit and an SHG-operated restaurant, and visited the Tarathpora Hi-Tech Poly House, AMC, and Boutique.

The visit concluded with the inauguration of the Integrated Farming Cluster (IFC) Nutnussa project at Drugmulla, highlighting the district’s focus on agro-based industries.

Commending Kupwara’s women-led initiatives, Dr. Sharma stated, “Kupwara exemplifies women empowerment, with local women leading community transformation. We remain committed to scaling these efforts.”

The Mission Director mandated officials to strengthen upcoming marketing platforms for enhanced product visibility and sales. She emphasized adopting digital transactions among SHGs and prioritized establishing group enterprises and Cluster-Level Federation (CLF) enterprises through convergence with line departments, operating these as business entities for women’s benefit.

Dr. Sharma underscored that NRLM’s success depends on cross-departmental convergence, directing field staff to conduct targeted awareness campaigns. Addressing SHGs, she urged members to leverage mission benefits for economic upliftment.

Dr. Sharma was accompanied by State Project Managers, District Program Manager (DPM), Block Program Managers (BPMs), Management Information System (MIS) team members, and other officials. (via. Mushtaq Ali Baba)
