Srinagar: Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of CM-designate Omar Abdullah on Wednesday, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference is set to nominate party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah besides two other senior leaders as members for Rajya Sabha.

As learnt by Alfaaz – The Words, the three faces from the party set to make it to the Rajya Sabha include JKNC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Chaudhary Mohammad Ramzan – from Kashmir – and Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo – from Jammu.

The name of JKNC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani is also under consideration, while his name is simultaneously in consideration to contest on the Budgam seat once it falls vacant after resignation of Omar Abdullah – who has emerged as victorious on two seats including in Ganderbal.

Meanwhile, on one remaining seat, to be occupied by BJP, the ruling party in centre may announce the nomination of Ravinder Raina or anyone among Kavinder Gupta and Dr. Nirmal Singh.

Notably, four Rajya Sabha seats from J&K have been vacant for an extended period due to the absence of an elected legislative assembly.

Among the legislators likely to get the different portfolios include; Surinder Choudhary, Sakina Itoo, Mir Saifullah, Hasnain Masoodi, Javaid Rana, Er Farooq Ahmad Shah, Satish Sharma, Pyare Lal Sharma and Salman Sagar.

Congress in the meantime is also expected either one or two Cabinet portfolios.

The National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah will take oath as the CM of Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow, alongside his cabinet.

Omar Abdullah after taking oath, as per a government circular, is to chair a meeting of Administrative Secretaries at 3 PM.
