JKEDI, District Centre Kupwara, Kickstarts 4-Week EDP at ITI Handwara

Handwara: The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), District Centre Kupwara, today commenced a four-week Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Program (EDP) at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Handwara.

The intensive program, aimed at empowering aspiring entrepreneurs from District Kupwara, is being conducted under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Aijaz Majeed Kakroo, Superintendent of ITI Kupwara and Handwara. The training initiative was formally kickstarted by Azmat Hussain, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Kupwara, alongside Faheem Hamid Mir, Assistant Faculty at JKEDI, who will be conducting the sessions and mentoring the participants throughout the program.

Spanning over four weeks, the ESDP will cover a wide range of business-related topics including entrepreneurial motivation, business idea generation, market research, financial literacy, marketing strategies, legal formalities, and business plan preparation.

The curriculum also includes practical components such as field visits, simulations, market surveys, and interactive sessions with industry experts, providing participants with real-world exposure and experiential learning.

Speaking on the occasion, Azmat Hussain highlighted the importance of such capacity-building initiatives in fostering a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region. “This program, under the aegis of the RAMP scheme, aims to provide local youth with the skills and confidence to venture into entrepreneurship, thereby contributing to the economic upliftment of the region” he said.

The ESDP is one of the flagship initiatives of the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) with JKEDI serving as its training partner, delivering hands-on guidance and capacity building to aspiring entrepreneurs across the region.
