Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association on Tuesday declared a one-day token strike scheduled for December 15, alleging prolonged indifference by the government toward their long-pending demands.
Speaking at a press briefing in Srinagar, the Associationโs General Secretary, Sheikh Mohammad Yousuf, said that transporters from both Jammu and Kashmir regions have jointly resolved to suspend services for a day as a protest move.
He said the transport industry is โon the brink of collapse,โ blaming it on the governmentโs inaction over crucial concerns such as unchecked e-bus operations, sharp increases in fitness and green taxes and frequent e-challans.
Yousuf added that after the strike, the association will issue a seven-day ultimatum to the administration, cautioning that they may resort to a โstronger course of actionโ if their grievances are not addressed. (KNC)
