Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA Pulwama, Waheed Para, has said that Jammu and Kashmir is sinking into a worsening water crisis as top leaders are stalling key appointments ‘to extract bribes and fund party coffers’.
He said people across the region are suffering due to the failure to fill crucial vacancies in the Jal Shakti Department (formerly PHE).
Para urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to break his silence, stating that silence is no longer an option in the face of commitments made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir during the 2024 Assembly elections.
“Massive corruption allegations in J&K. Top leaders are allegedly stalling Chief Engineer appointments to extract bribes and fund party coffers as J&K sinks into a worsening water crisis,” Para said in an X post.
“Hundreds of posts in PHE, Irrigation & PWD lie vacant. Projects are stalled. People suffer. @OmarAbdullah sahab, silence is no longer an option.”
Listing unfilled posts in the Jal Shakti Department, the legislator further said, “Vacant Posts — Hydraulic: CE-10 | XEN-10 | AEE-200; PWD: CE-3 | SE-11 | XEN-32; Mechanical: XEN-20 | AEE-60 | AE-50 | JE-250.”
