Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh High Court on Monday quashed detention under Public Safety Act (PSA) of former ad-hoc Chairman High Court Bar Association Adv Nazir Ahmad Ronga.
As learnt by Alfaaz – The Words, Ronga’s detention under the stringent act was revoked by Justice Sanjay Dhar.
Ronga (75), represented in the case by senior advocate Davendra N. Goburdhan, is lodged at Kot Bhalwal Jammu since July 2024, over accusations of “promoting secessionist ideology” in Valley through the activities of banned High Court Bar Association.
Ronga, a senior lawyer, has been practising law for over four decades, with additional responsibilities as Bar President on multiple occasions and had been acting as Bar’s ad-hoc Chairman before being booked under PSA and subsequently lodged at Kot Bhalwal.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details pour in.
