Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday announced an ex-gratia relief of โน10 lakh for each deceased and โน1 lakh for those severely injured in the accidental explosion that rocked Nowgam Police Station on Friday night.
According to the Chief Ministerโs Office, the compensation will be provided from the Chief Ministerโs Relief Fund, as the administration moves to support families devastated by the tragic incident.
Health Minister Sakina Itoo visited several bereaved families earlier in the day to personally offer condolences and assess their immediate needs. She later visited the hospital where the injured are undergoing treatment, inquiring about their condition and assuring them of all necessary medical assistance.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the Government โstands firmly with the affected families in this hour of griefโ and reiterated that every possible support, financial, medical, and administrative, would be extended.
The explosion, which authorities have termed accidental, claimed at least nine lives and left several others injured, plunging the region into deep shock and sorrow.
