Srinagar: In an earnest bid to seek public mandate in legislative assembly, Bhartiya Janata Party Monday announced names of Narendra Modi, Jagat Prakash Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah among a list of forty party leaders to campaign in the first phase of the ensuing elections.

The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled to go underway from September 18, are being held after a hiatus of over ten years.

The elections, otherwise due several years before, remained in abeyance mainly due to abrupt withdrawal of support by Bhartiya Janata Party to coalition partner Peoples’ Democratic Party, followed by revocation of Article 370 and 35A and simultaneous bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir with Ladakh and the demotion of the State into a Union Territory.

As the elections are due to start from September 18, 2024, the party would be roping in top party faces as ‘Star Pracharaks’ to campaign for the party in Phase-I.
