Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration is reportedly all set to revive the discontinued ‘waiting list’ for various recruitment processes.
This decision to abolish the waiting list, by previous Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta in 2023, had drawn criticism from various quarters, with many considering it unfair to candidates who had qualified in earlier exams but couldnโt be accommodated due to limited vacancies.
The revival of the waiting list system is based on various factors which mainly include large number of pending vacancies, grievances of qualified candidates, procedural concerns, accommodating existing vacancies, potential legal challenges and impact on future recruitment.
The final decision on reviving the waiting list system is yet to be officially announced. However, the move is likely to be welcomed by many aspirants who were adversely affected by the previous decision.
It remains to be seen how the government addresses the challenges associated with reviving the system and ensures a fair and transparent recruitment process for all.
