J&K Admin Notifies Official Holiday Calendar for 2026

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has notified the complete holiday calendar for the year 2026, applicable to all government offices and educational institutions across the Union Territory.

Under Annexure-A, the holidays to be observed across the Union Territory include; Guru Gobind Singh Jiโ€™s Birthday on January 5 (Monday), Shab-i-Miraj on January 17 (Saturday), Republic Day on January 26 (Monday), Mahashivratri on February 15 (Sunday), Shab-i-Qadr on March 17 (Tuesday), 1st Navratra on March 19 (Thursday), Jumat-ul-Vida on March 20 (Friday), Nauroz and Eid-ul-Fitr on March 21 (Saturday), Ramnavami on March 26 (Thursday), Baisakhi and the Birthday of Dr B R Ambedkar on April 14 (Tuesday), Buddha Purnima on May 1 (Friday), Eid-ul-Azha on May 27 (Wednesday) and May 28 (Thursday), Ashoora on June 26 (Friday), Guru Hargobind Jiโ€™s Birthday on July 5 (Sunday), Independence Day on August 15 (Saturday), Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi on August 26 (Wednesday) followed by a holiday on Friday, August 28, Janamashtami on September 4 (Friday), Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji on September 23 (Wednesday), Mahatma Gandhiโ€™s Birthday on October 2 (Friday), Mahavami and Dussehra on October 20 (Tuesday), Accession Day on October 26 (Monday), Diwali on November 18 (Sunday), Guru Nanak Dev Jiโ€™s Birthday on November 24 (Tuesday), and Christmas Day on December 25 (Friday).

The order says that all Muslim holidays are subject to the appearance of the moon.

Under Annexureโ€“B, province-wise holidays have also been notified. In the Kashmir Province, holidays include Friday following Shab-i-Miraj on January 23 (Friday), Urs Shah-i-Hamdan Sahib on May 23 (Saturday), Mela Khir Bhawani on June 22 (Monday), and Urs Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Sahib on October 8 (Thursday).

In the Jammu Province, Lohri will be observed on January 13 (Tuesday), Shri Guru Ravi Dass Jiโ€™s Birthday on February 1 (Sunday), and Holi on March 4 (Wednesday).

The order further lists several local and restricted holidays, applicable to specific districts and tehsils.
