Jerusalem: Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops seized a Syrian army outpost at the summit of Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights on Sunday, Israeli state media reported.
Soldiers from Shaldag, the Air Force’s commando unit, captured the outpost “without encountering resistance,” according to Kan TV News.
The commander of the Israeli military’s Northern Command, Ori Gordin, and the commander of the Training Command, David Zini also visited the summit, the broadcaster said, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Syrian army reportedly left the post amid the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s government.
A photo circulating on social media showed Israeli troops posing for selfies outside the Syrian outpost and another photo showed soldiers holding an Israeli flag.
The IDF did not immediately issue an official comment, a spokesperson told Xinhua. However, earlier on Sunday, the military announced it was moving into the buffer zone, a demilitarized area in the Golan Heights, stating the move was intended to prevent rebel forces from taking over the area and launching attacks into Israel.
By nightfall, the IDF confirmed in a post on the social media platform X that it was conducting “actions” within the buffer zone. The statement urged residents of five villages and towns in southern Syria — Ofaniya, Quneitra, Al-Hamidiya, Al-Samdaneyah Al-Gharbiya, and Qahtaniya — to remain indoors. “For your safety, you must stay at home and not go out until further notice,” the post read.
According to the founding father of Zionism Theodore Herzl, “the area of the Jewish State stretches “from the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates.” According to Rabbi Fischmann, “the Promised Land extends from the River of Egypt up to the Euphrates, it includes parts of Syria and Lebanon.”
When viewed in the current context, the war on Iraq, the 2006 war on Lebanon, the 2011 war on Libya, the ongoing war on Syria, not to mention the process of regime change in Egypt, and developments in Yemen, Bahrain, annexation of Arab areas in West Bank and oppression and isolation of Gaza must be understood in relation to the Zionist Plan for the Middle East. The latter consists of weakening and eventually fracturing neighboring Arab states as part of an Israeli expansionist project.
“Greater Israel” consists in an area extending from the Nile Valiev to the Euphrates.
