Srinagar: Internet services in Kashmir, currently running at reduced speed, are likely to be restored to full capacity by tomorrow evening, officials said on Tuesday.

The restrictions on high-speed internet were imposed in the aftermath of the killing of Iranโ€™s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in joint military strikes by the United States and Israel earlier this week.

Officials in Kashmir said the measure was taken as a precautionary step in view of the prevailing situation, aimed at preventing misinformation and maintaining public order. They said that basic internet access continues, but high-speed services have been throttled across the Valley.

Authorities said that full-speed services are expected to be reinstated after 8 PM tomorrow, subject to a review of ground conditions.

The decision will be re-evaluated based on evolving circumstances, they added.
