Kupwara: Aimed at discovering and nurturing talent among youth, Indian Army’s 28 Rashtriya Rifles Monday inaugurated and dedicated a newly-constructed playfield to the people of north Kashmir’s Lolab area, amid much fanfare.
Constructed at Government Upper Primary School Shallagund Khurhama, the inaugural ceremony of the playfield was marked by a Volleyball match between two local teams.
The event saw the participation of distinguished guests, including CO 28 RR, Zonal Education Officer Khumriyal, Principal Govt Hr Sec School Maidanpora, President Teachers’ Forum Zone Khumriyal, Zonal President JKTJAC (Zone Khumriyal) Sajad Ahmad Wani along with other notable attendees.
The ceremony drew a large crowd of local residents, particularly the youth, further amplifying the excitement surrounding the event.
Students, parents, and community members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army and the education department for their efforts in the endeavor.
The new facility is expected to play a key role in the holistic development of the children, youth of the area in sports activities.
CO 28-RR, addressing the gathering congratulated the public and school administration for the new facility in the remote village.
The army officer also commended the head teacher of UPS Shallgund Mohammad Arif Khan for his dedication to maintain the playfield and encouraged the youth to harness their sports talents by participating in such activities.
Zonal Education Officer Khumriyal who also spoke at the event, expressed his commitment to promoting sports among students. He assured the school authorities that addressing the construction of a boundary wall and drainage system behind the school would be prioritised.
Head Teacher Mohammad Arif Hussain Khan thanked the distinguished guests for attending the event, acknowledging their busy schedules. He expressed his appreciation for their support, which greatly contributed to the success of the event.
