Langate: The Indian Army on Tuesday organised an Ex Servicemen Rally at the Langate Army Camp in sub district Handwara to mark Defence Forces Veterans Day and strengthen engagement with former soldiers.
The rally focused on addressing welfare related issues of ex servicemen and reinforcing the Armyโs continued support to its veterans and their families.
A large number of ex servicemen, Veer Naris, widows and dependents from different parts of Kashmir took part in the programme. A single window system was put in place to facilitate resolution of issues related to pensions, medical facilities, resettlement, documentation and various welfare schemes.
Several departments and agencies set up service counters, including Record Offices, Zila Sainik Welfare Office, ECHS, banks, Social Welfare Department, Skill Development Department, Agriculture, Horticulture and Fisheries. The stalls provided information and on spot assistance regarding government schemes and benefits meant for veterans, Veer Naris and widows.
Many long pending grievances were resolved during the rally. These included pension anomalies, corrections in service records and issues related to ECHS cards.
Senior Army officers interacted directly with the participants and assured them of continued care and institutional support. Veterans expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and appreciated the timely resolution of their concerns.
The rally underscored the Indian Armyโs sustained commitment towards the welfare of its veterans and their families and acknowledged their service and sacrifices for the nation.
