‘Incarcerated AIP Chief Er Rashid To Contest LS Elections’

Srinagar: Awami Itehad Party chief Abdul Rashid Sheikh aka Er. Rashid is party’s Lok Sabha candidate for Baramulla constituency, announced the Political Affairs Committee of the party on Sunday.

Er. Rashid, was among many politicians, public figures and common people taken under custody ahead of August 5, 2019 constitutional developments affecting the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

While majority of the politicians and other people have been released from time to time, Er. Rashid continues to remain incarcerated in Tihar Jail.

Notably, the next Lok Sabha elections are expected to be held between April and May 2024.
