Rafiabad: In a significant crackdown on forest smuggling, a blue Ignis vehicle bearing registration number JK01 AP 7029 was intercepted today around 11:30 AM at Chootosa by a vigilant team of the Rafiabad Control Room, acting on specific intelligence regarding timber transportation.

The vehicle was found loaded with illicit Deodar timber—two sawn slippers measuring 5.5 cft. The operation was closely monitored by the Divisional Forest Officer Langate, ensuring real-time coordination.

The driver, identified as Shabir Ahmad Wani, son of Ab Gafar Wani, resident of Al Farooq Colony, Bemina, was apprehended on the spot and is currently under custody.

“Acting on a special input, our alert team intercepted the vehicle and seized illicit timber successfully. The accused is in custody and legal action is underway,” said the Range Officer Rafiabad.

Further details will follow after the registration of an FIR at Police Station Dangiwacha.
