Haystack Razed To Ashes in Gundjahangir B’pora; ‘Third Incident of Its Type in Recent Past’

Bandipora: A haystack was on Wednesday razed to ashes in a blaze in Gundjahangir village in Bandipora district.

The haystack belonging to Assadullah Sheikh, son of Haji Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, a resident of Pathpora GundJahangir village of Hajin area in Bandipora district, was gutted in a fire on Wednesday evening.

Prompt action by locals, fire tenders and the Army’s Shahgund and Naidkhai unit helped to put out the fire and prevent further damage.

“This is the third fire incident at the same spot in recent months,” said a concerned resident. “We are worried about these recurring fires and urge the authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and take necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future.”

Haystacks are essential for livestock feed, and their loss can significantly impact the livelihood of farmers.

An offical said that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined and police are investigating the incident.
