Handwara: Police District Handwara on Friday observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) with patriotic enthusiasm and collective resolve to uphold the ideals of unity, integrity, and national solidarity.
The main commemorative function was held at the District Police Lines (DPL) Handwara, where a large contingent of police personnel participated in a solemn pledge-taking ceremony, reaffirming their commitment to the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, hialed as the architect of national integration and Indiaโs first Deputy Prime Minister.
Similar ceremonies were held at all police sub-units across the district, reinforcing the message of unity and integrity as the cornerstone of peace, stability, and social harmony. The event also featured a ceremonial march past by police contingents, adding a sense of grandeur and discipline to the celebration.
Earlier in the day, Run for Unity events were organised across Police District Handwara, witnessing enthusiastic participation from youth representing diverse areas of the district. The main run commenced from Chotipora and culminated at the Environmental Hall Handwara.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Sahil Sarangal, along with Additional SP Handwara, SDPO Handwara, DySP DAR Handwara, SHO Handwara, and other officers from the civil and police administration, joined the celebrations and encouraged participants to uphold the spirit of national cohesion and brotherhood.
Adding depth to the dayโs observance, a Photo Exhibition highlighting the life and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and an Ekta Tree Plantation Drive (Ekta Vriksh Campaign) were also organised. These initiatives symbolised the districtโs collective commitment to national unity, integrity, and environmental stewardship.
