Handwara: In a determined effort to combat drug trafficking and eradicate the growing menace of narcotics, Handwara Police have arrested a drug peddler and seized contraband during a routine patrol.
A police team from Handwara Police Station, while patrolling the Herpora area, apprehended an individual identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar, alias “Jungli,” son of Mohd Sultan Dar, a resident of Lachipora, Handwara. Upon a personal search, the police recovered 8 grams of a substance suspected to be brown sugar from his possession.
Following the recovery, a case has been registered under FIR No. 11/25 at Handwara Police Station, in accordance with Sections 8 and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigations are underway.
The Handwara Police have reiterated their unwavering commitment to making the region a drug-free zone by taking stringent action against drug peddlers. Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in their mission to eliminate the drug menace from society. (via. Aadil Akbar)
