Kupwara: Hamid Chara Army Goodwill School, Chandigam in Lolab Valley, has been awarded the Certificate of Green School under the Green Schools Programme (GSP) Audit 2025โ26 by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi. The school also secured a Green Ranking, placing it among the top 5% of schools in the programme.
The certification was presented at a ceremony at Stein Auditorium, New Delhi, recognising schools across the region for their commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The event was attended by Dr. R. Brawin Kumar, Conservation Biologist and Chief Guest, and Ms. Sunita Narain, Director General of CSE, who highlighted the role of educational institutions in promoting environmental responsibility.
The recognition reflects the schoolโs efforts in areas such as air quality, water conservation, energy efficiency, waste management, food sustainability, and land stewardship. These initiatives demonstrate how schools can contribute to environmental conservation while nurturing responsible and aware citizens.
The school management and Principal acknowledged the contributions of students, staff, and supporting agencies in achieving this milestone. The award marks a significant achievement for the institution and the Lolab Valley, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious education.
