Srinagar: The death toll has reached four after militants attacked an Army Vehicle near Nagin area of Botapathri along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

The dead include two civilian porters and two army men. Reports suggest that more army men are injured in the attack.

The attack took place near Nagin Dhok in the Bootapathri area, where the convoy of the 18 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) came under sudden fire. Officials confirmed that the injured soldiers were immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The ambush triggered a massive counter-operation in the region, with security forces launching a combing mission to neutralise the militants.

The Army has intensified its security measures across the region following the attack, with Lt Gen Kumar urging all ranks to maintain the highest level of alertness.
