Kupwara (KG): An extraordinary farewell function was organised at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sogam Lolab on Tuesday, in honour of Principal Abdul Gaffar Ahanger.
The day was a fiesta devoted to the years spent together with colleagues, friends and relatives as to reminisce joyous moments spent together. The school was festooned with colours and decorations. Being a colourful affair, the farewell dances, songs and skits rocked the event all day long.
The function was attended by Principal GDC Sogam Shameem Ahmad Dar, Principal Government Higher Secondary Lalpora Bashir Ahmad Peer, Principal Girls Higher Secondary Sogam Ali Mohammad Bhat, Government Higher Secondary School Maidanpora Bashir Ahmad, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Khumriyal Nazir Ahmad Khan, Principal Forum J&K President Nazir Ahmad Khan (Srinagar), Principal Forum J&K Vice-president Ghulam Mohuiddin (Baramulla), Teachers Forum J&K Chairman Mohammad Amin Khan, JK Teachers’ Association representative Farooq Ahmad Bhat, ZEO Retired Abdul Jabbar Mir, ZEO Retired Mohammad Azhar Shah, Lecturer Retired Abdul Rashid Mir and many other prominent dignitaries of the Education Department.
The speakers on the occasion highlighted the contributions of the retiree during his speech and said that the retiring educationist has always remained on his toes while imparting quality education throughout his service. They unequivocally hailed the tireless approach, punctuality, dedication and honesty of the retiring educationist.
The retiring educationist has dispensed his services as ZEO Chammkote Karnah, ZEO Khumriyal Lolab, ZEO Dangiwacha Rafiabad Baramulla, ZEO Sogam and Cluster Head Sogam before bidding adieu to his illustrious career as Principal Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Sogam Lolab.
The retiring educationist extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the attendants for their benign presence on the occasion. “It will always give me a sense of great satisfaction that I have been a part of the education department, a noble profession cherished by the great personalities of mankind”, Ahanger said.
On the occasion, the College also marked the ‘National Ekta Diwas’, during which a plantation drive was carried out in the College premises. The retiring educationist also planted a tree in the College campus.
