Srinagar: Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) on Wednesday swung into action and removed encroachment in and around Children’s Hospital in Bemina Srinagar. The action has been taken after news agency Global News Service carried a report on the impending issue causing huge inconvenience to the patients, attendants and passersby alike.

“An anti-encroachment drive was today (Wednesday) conducted by the Srinagar development authority(SDA) to remove the illegal occupation that had come up outside the newly established children Hospital in Bemina”, reads a statement issued from the office of Deputy Director Enforcement
Srinagar Development Authority, as per local news agency GNS.

“During the drive, all the shanties were removed to restore the pristine view along the national highway at Bemina and prevent any untoward incident.”

“Having such markets thrive outside big institutions on national highways is not only hazardous from a traffic point of view but creates shabby clusters and causes congestion”, reads the statement.

“The enforcement drive was led by the enforcement wing of SDA earlier as well from time to time which aims at stopping illegal constructions”, the statement reads.

“Meanwhile, the general public is also warned to desist from such activities that shall incur action warranted under law and the anti-encroachment drive shall continue within SDA jurisdiction”, the statement reads further.

The patients, attendants, routine passersby and locals have hailed the timely action of the authority and expressed hope that they will keep an eye on elements who may be trying to encroach the space again.
