Anantnag: Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag is proud to announce the successful completion of a complex surgical procedure on a 60-year-old female patient diagnosed with a mucinous tumor of the pancreas.
The patient, who had been suffering from recurrent abdominal pain, underwent thorough evaluation and a CT scan at the Department of Radiology, GMC Anantnag.
The medical team decided to perform a distal pancreatosplenectomy, a surgery that involves the removal of a portion of the pancreas along with the spleen.
The challenging operation was conducted at Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) Anantnag by a dedicated surgical team led by Dr. Khalid Basheer, Surgical Gastroenterologist, under the leadership of Dr. Nazir A. Wani, Head of the Department (HOD) of Surgery.
The anesthesia team, essential for the successful outcome of the procedure, was led by Dr. Anjum Shamim, HOD of Anesthesia. Patient is stable and recovering well under post operative care.
Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal of GMC Anantnag, extended her heartfelt congratulations to the team of doctors and paramedical staff for their exceptional work and successful execution of this complex surgery. “This achievement is a testament to the skill and dedication of our medical professionals,” she stated.
The logistics and necessary resources for the operation were expertly managed by Dr. Muzaffar H. Sherwani, Medical Superintendent of Associated Hospital GMC Anantnag, whose support was instrumental in the smooth conduct of the procedure.
