Srinagar: Former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and a prominent social worker Alhaj Peer Abdul Ghani Shah has left for heavenly abode this afternoon. He was in his nineties.
A close relative of Shah said that he was not keeping well for a considerable period of time now and eventually breathed his last this afternoon at his residence at Batpora Lalpora.
The Namaz-e-Jannaza to the departed soul is scheduled to be held at 12 PM (sharp) on Friday at his ancestral graveyard at Batpora Lalpora, near ITI.
Shah, known for his social and philanthropic work, has represented Lolab as MLA from 1983-1987.
Shah had also been President of the Auqaaf Islamia Lalpora.
Meanwhile different sections of society have extended their heartfelt condolences to the Shah family on the irreparable loss. (KG)
