Forest Fire Breaks Out in Kuligam Kupwara; Efforts Underway to Extinguish Flames, Says Conservator

Kupwara: A forest fire erupted late Saturday evening in Kuligam woods, spreading quickly through Compartment Nos. 84 and 85 and raising concerns over its proximity to nearby residential areas.

Alerted by field staff, the Forest Department immediately initiated a response, deploying teams to contain the enraging flames, following which teams from the Forest Department and the Forest Protection Force reached the site, and are working to control the blaze and prevent further damage.

When contacted, Conservator of Forests, Kashmir North Forest Circle, Irfan Ali Shah, confirmed the ongoing blaze.

“Our field teams promptly reported the fire, and we have dispatched dedicated personnel to the spot. Efforts are underway to contain and extinguish the flames,” Shah said.

“We urge local residents and allied agencies to cooperate with us in managing this situation,” Shah added.
