Handwara: A joint team of security forces averted a mishap in North Kashmir’s Handwara after detecting and defusing a suspicious object near Thoker Pora on the Baramulla-Handwara Highway on Thursday morning.
News agency KNT quoted an unnamed official as saying that the object, attached to a bag, raised concerns, prompting the deployment of a Bomb Disposal Squad. “To ensure public safety, the squad conducted a controlled explosion.”
“The nature of the suspicious object is currently under investigation,” the official said, adding that traffic on the highway was temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure and was resumed later on.
