Qalamabad [Handwara]: An event on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was held in UPS Chontipora Mawer here on Saturday. The event saw attendance from people cutting across different sections of society.
A sizable number of religious scholars, socio political activist cum Lecturer retired Bashir Ahmed Qureshi, Widow orphans and handicapped Association President Jammu and Kashmir Mohammad Shafi Mir, Principal GHSS Qalamabad Syed kifayat Ahmad Shah, Naib Tehsildar Qalamabad Javid Iqbal, Social Welfare officials, senior citizenry besides staff members of UPS, parents and their wards studying at UPS Chontipora .
The event started with recitation of the Holy Quran.
Lecturer retired Bashir Ahmad Qureshi in his address highlighted the side effects of drug abuse. He also briefed the audience the teachings of Islam against the use of drugs.
Widow Orphans & Handicapped Association President Jammu and Kashmir Mohammad Shafi Mir also spoke on the occasion. During his speech, Mir said we need to curb this menace and stressed upon the students & teachers to spread the message among masses about the worst effects of drugs.
Headmaster Government UPS Chontipora Nazir Ahmad Bhat also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of organizing such events.
Zonal president Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Association Zone Mawer Zahoor Ahmed shah during his speech said that, it is very unfortunate that younger generation is badly involved in this drug addiction and it’s the prime responsibility of all to educate the youth regarding the same and stop this menace. He appreciated the efforts of the Social Welfare department for organising such events.
At the end Tehsil officer social welfare department Rakesh Kumar also addressed the audience and gave detailed information regarding the event organised by the social welfare department.
Nazir Ahmad bhat also informed that UPS Chontipora is always at the forefront in organising such events and will continue to do the same.Mr Nazir Ahmad bhat said, “We are committed against this menace and we are ready to cooperate with other departments for organising such awareness programmes.”
Later on an award ceremony was also held in which Headmaster Govt UPS Chontipora Nazir Ah bhat and other participating students of the institution including female Sarpanch Halqa Prangroo Dilshada Begum were felicitated with appreciation certificates.
