Encounter Rages in North Kashmir

Srinagar: An encounter has broken out between security forces and militants in Rampur forest Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Multiple reports quoted officials as saying that after a joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation on receipt of specific information about presence of militants in Rampur forest area.

There may be two to three militants trapped at the site, the reports said.

Meanwhile, the intermittent exchange of gunfire was going on, when this report was being filed.
