Srinagar: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Tangmarg area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
News agency KNO quoted an official as saying that security forces cordoned off Tangmarg after receiving specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
As security forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon forces, which was retaliated to, triggering an encounter.
He said that exchange of fire is going on. The anti-terror operation comes a day after militants opened fire at a group of tourists in Pahalgam, killing at least 26 civilians and injuring many.
