Srinagar: Ehsaas Foundation has congratulated Team Snow India on winning the Bronze Medal at the Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championship 2026 in Colorado, United States, one of the most competitive global events in snow art.
The four member team comprising Zahoor Kashmiri, Mridul Upadhyay, Suhail Mohmad Khan, and Matt Seeley of the United States presented a 16 foot tall snow sculpture titled Corn: The Ultimate Domesticator. Who is truly in control. The artwork was carved entirely by hand from a 25 ton block of snow over four days in sub zero conditions, with temperatures dropping to minus 31 degrees Celsius. As per competition rules, no power tools or internal supports were used.
Inspired by Yuval Noah Harariโs book Sapiens, the sculpture explored the idea of whether humans domesticated crops or whether crops like corn shaped human civilisation and lifestyles over centuries. The concept drew attention for its philosophical approach and visual execution, earning appreciation from judges and visitors.
Team Snow India secured the Bronze position behind Korea, which won Gold, and Mongolia, which took Silver. The result marks the teamโs second consecutive international medal and further reinforces its standing as South Asiaโs first snow sculpting team to achieve repeated success at this level.
Zahoor Malik, Founder of Ehsaas Foundation, said the achievement was a source of pride for the country and reflected the teamโs creativity and determination. He added that their success under extreme conditions underscored the need for greater institutional support for artists from the Himalayan region.
Despite limited financial backing, the team continues to represent India on international platforms. They have again sought support from the Government of India and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the role of snow art in promoting winter tourism and cultural outreach.
Team member Mridul Upadhyay said the experience of competing among the worldโs leading snow sculptors was deeply rewarding and reflected teamwork and dedication.
Ehsaas Foundation reiterated its commitment to encouraging artistic expression and cultural excellence, stating that such achievements demonstrate the global potential of talent from the region when provided with adequate support.
