Ganderbal: Jammu and Kashmir Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district said to have arrested a drug-peddler with contraband substance.
A Police Spokesperson said that in continuation of the efforts to eradicate the drug menace from the society, the Police arrested a drug peddler in the jurisdiction of Police Station Gund.
“Upon receiving information through reliable sources that one person namely Shameem Ahmad Khatana, son of Shameem Ahmad Khatana, resident of Baktoori Mohalla, Gund has concealed contraband substance at his residential house. Upon the receipt of the information, Case FIR No. 53/2024, under relevant Sections of NDPS Act was registered at PS Gund,” he said.
“Accordingly, Ganderbal Police constituted a special Police team of PS Gund who along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class and independent witnesses raided the residential house of the accused. During the search, 08 Kgs of Bhang Patri was recovered, which was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot. Further investigation of the case is under process,” the Spokesperson said.
“Ganderbal Police requests general public to share information regarding drugs in the area and we assure complete anonymity of the informer,” added the Spokesperson.
