Kupwara: Jammu and Kashmir Police have apprehended a drug peddlers and recovered from his possession a certain amount of contraband in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, a police Spokesperson said on Saturday.
“In an important action against drug menace, the Kupwara Police apprehended a suspected individual during a routine naka checking at Madmadav crossing under the jurisdiction of Police Post Kalaroos at around 9:30 PM yesterday,” the Spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
Identifying the accused as Zahoor Ahmed Malik, son of Abdul Aziz Malik, resident of Lashtiyal, the Spokesperson said that he was subjected to a personal search during which approximately 4 grams of a brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession.
“A Case FIR No.10/2024 has been registered at PS Kupwara . The investigation has been set into motion to ascertain the source of the contraband and any potential links to a larger network.”
“The Kupwara Police reiterates its commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the region and appeals to the public to cooperate in the fight against this societal threat by reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station,” said the Spokesperson further.
