Kupwara: A team of doctors at Sub District Hospital Kupwara on Friday performed a precarious surgery, resuscitating a throat-slit child after an hour-long surgery.
The child identified as one Usman Aijaz, four-year-old, from Cheki Keegam, Kandi was admitted at SDH Kupwara, on Friday evening with a deep cut in throat. The child, as learnt by Alfaaz – The Words, grievously injured himself with a tin sheet after falling from an apple tree.
Rarely faced with such a situation in a sub-district type hospital, a team of doctors nonetheless with a giant leap of faith treated the patient.
The team of doctors led by Dr Rayees Ahmed Consultant, alongside his DNB PG Dr Ramakrishna and Surgical Assistant Mr Syed Tariq, Anaesthetist Dr Jahangir his DNB PG Dr Tayab and Anaesthesia technician G R Bhat, resuscitated the patient after an hour-long surgery.
When contacted, Dr. Rayees Ahmad told Alfaaz – The Words, that the patient is under observation and is doing fairly well. “It was a difficult case to deal with, but the team of doctors exhibited grit and determination and it paid off, much more than we had expected,” the doctor said.Â
