Lolab: Divisional Forest Officer, (DFO) Kamraj Anurag Arya alongwith Range Officer Sogam Aijaz Ahmad seized approximately 100 feet of illicit deodar logs being transported from Affan Warno Lolab during the intervening Monday and Tuesday night.
The operation, carried out by the Forest department in collaboration with local authorities in compartment number 63, was part of ongoing efforts to curb deforestation and preserve the pristine beauty of the region. The seizure was made following a tip-off about unauthorized logging activities in the area.
DFO Kamraj Anurag Arya told Alfaaz – The Words, that “We have seized approximately 100 feet of illicit deodar logs in compartment number 63 in Warnow Lolab, following a credible information regarding the unlawful transportation of logs.”
“The seized logs have been carted to Range Office Sogam and an investigation into the matter initiated thereof,” the officer said.
“Anyone found guilty of illegal timber trade, whether from the forest department or local will face action,” he said.
Meanwhile, the local residents have expressed their deep appreciation for the swift action taken by the DFO Kamraj, Range Officer Sogam and the Forest Department, hailing their commitment to preserving the environment.
“We are highly grateful to the authorities for their vigilance. The forest resources are vital to our livelihoods and their protection ensures the long-term sustainability of our natural surroundings,” said a local.
