Lolab: Teachers and staff across Zone Sogam are grappling with immense hardships due to the non-appointment of a Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) following the superannuation of the previous officer. The situation has led to a halt in the disbursement of salaries for December, causing financial distress to many employees.
The absence of a ZEO has also disrupted administrative functions, leaving several key files and approvals pending. Teachers, clerical staff, and non-teaching employees are expressing frustration as they rely on timely payments to meet personal and professional obligations.
A delegation of teachers has urged the authorities to immediately fill the vacant post, emphasizing the critical role of the ZEO in ensuring the smooth functioning of the education sector. โThe delay in appointing a new ZEO is not just affecting salaries but also disrupting the educational administration in the zone,โ Syed Lateef Nazki, Zonal President JKRETTF Zone Sogam stated.
Local stakeholders have called upon the District Education Officer and the higher authorities to prioritize this issue and appoint a competent officer without further delay. The delay in resolving this matter is causing widespread discontent and risks derailing the educational activities in Zone Sogam.
The teaching community remains hopeful that the government will act promptly to address this pressing concern, ensuring relief for hundreds of affected employees.
