Construction of State-of-the-art Transit Housing Project for Pandit Community Underway at Handwara

Kupwara: The Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division Handwara, under the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, is constructing a state-of-the-art transit accommodation facility at Kulangam Bagh to provide housing for employees of the Pandit community. The project consists of 18 blocks, comprising a total of 288 residential units, designed to offer safe, comfortable, and sustainable living conditions.

This initiative is a significant step by the government towards the welfare and rehabilitation of the Pandit community. By addressing their housing needs in a secure environment, the project underscores the government’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and rebuilding the trust of the community. Each residential unit has been meticulously designed to meet the specific requirements of the employees, ensuring both quality and sustainability.

Speaking about the project, Executive Engineer R&B Handwara, Farooq Ahmad Shah, said, “The construction of the transit accommodation at Kulangam Bagh is a landmark initiative to support the Pandit community employees. The project is progressing steadily, and we are fully committed to completing it within the stipulated timeline while maintaining the highest quality standards.”

The facility is expected to create a safe and inclusive environment, enabling employees to perform their duties without concerns related to housing. The administration has allocated adequate resources and is closely monitoring the progress to ensure timely completion.

According to Farooq Ahmad Shah, the construction work is ongoing, and the buildings will be handed over to the concerned department within this year. Upon completion, the 288-unit accommodation at Kulangam Bagh will stand as a testament to the government’s dedication to infrastructure development and its resolve to address the welfare of the Pandit community.

Local residents have welcomed this initiative, expressing hope that such measures will pave the way for the return of the Pandit community to Kashmir, fostering harmony and unity in the region.
