Jammu: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level review meeting of the Power Development Department (PDD) at the Civil Secretariat, focusing on winter power supply challenges, curtailment schedules, and strategies to enhance efficiency in J&K’s power sector.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized minimizing unplanned power cuts and ensuring strict adherence to notified curtailment schedules. “Planned curtailments are acceptable to people if implemented transparently, but unexpected and prolonged outages erode public trust,” he noted.

In a significant move, Abdullah launched the Monitoring of Load Curtailment Programme via www.LCPJK.in, a tool aimed at streamlining curtailment schedules and enhancing transparency.

The meeting, attended by top officials including Nasir Aslam Wani (Advisor to CM), Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Principal Secretary PDD Rajesh H. Prasad, reviewed the status of power supply, revenue realization, and measures to curb Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses. Key challenges in meeting consumer load requirements, particularly in Kashmir, were also discussed.

The Chief Minister reviewed ongoing and proposed projects under various schemes, underscoring the need for efficient execution to ensure reliable power supply during the peak winter season. This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing power sector challenges and safeguarding consumer interests.
