Srinagar: The Central Administrative Tribunal, Srinagar Bench, on Monday took up a petition seeking postponement of the JKPSC Combined Competitive JKAS Preliminary Examination and listed the matter for further hearing in April next year.

The petition, registered as O.A. No. 1447 of 2025 and titled Syed Mudawar Shamus versus Public Service Commission and another, relates to the JKAS Preliminary Examination conducted on December 7, 2025. The case was earlier listed for admission on December 17 and was heard by Court No. 1 on December 29.

After preliminary judicial consideration, the Tribunal, as per Alfaaz – The Words, scheduled the next hearing in the matter for April 8, 2026.

Notably, the plea is connected to the issue of postponement of the JKAS Preliminary Examination following nationwide flight disruptions. The issue had earlier reached the Tribunal after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wrote to the JKPSC Chairman seeking postponement of the examination, citing difficulties faced by candidates travelling from outside Jammu and Kashmir.

In earlier proceedings, the Tribunal had directed the JKPSC to file an affidavit detailing the action taken on the Chief Ministerโ€™s letter and to specify the number of candidates who were unable to appear due to the flight disruption.

The Tribunal had not passed any interim order staying the declaration of the preliminary examination results. In the absence of any restraining direction, the Commission was not barred from proceeding with the result process.

The Tribunal is expected to consider the issue of postponement in detail at the next hearing.
