Case Registered Against Seven for Alleged Job Scam in Kashmir

Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has registered a criminal case against seven individuals for allegedly cheating and duping unemployed youth on the pretext of providing government jobs.

According to officials, the case was initiated following a written complaint alleging that the accused were fraudulently promising employment in various government departments, including banks, the Agriculture Department and defence services. The complainants alleged that the accused collected approximately โ‚น39 lakh from multiple aspirants in exchange for securing government positions.

A preliminary verification conducted by the EOW found the allegations prima facie substantiated. During the probe, it surfaced that the accused had used SIM cards issued in the names of other individuals to facilitate the alleged fraud. The purported appointment orders provided to the victims were verified and found to be fake and forged.

Officials said the acts of the accused disclose offences punishable under Sections 420, 468, 472 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). Consequently, a formal case has been registered at the Police Station Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch Kashmir, and further investigation is underway.
