Kishtwar: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kishtwar have achieved a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a burglary case of a hardware store, recovering stolen property amounting to Rs. 6.00 lakhs in Kishtwar town.
SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom (JKPS), while divulging the details said that on 16-04-2024, a written complaint was lodged by one Vikar Ahmed, son of Mohd Irfan, resident of Shahidi Mohalla Kishtwar regarding theft in his Hardware Store situated near ITI Kishtwar on 12/13-04-2024 and 15/16-04-2024 by some unknown burglars.
In this regard, an instant FIR 103/2024 u/s 457/380 IPC of P/S Kishtwar was registered, and the investigation was set into motion.
SSP Kishtwar constituted a special team led by SHO PS Kishtwar Inspr Firdous Ahmed, assisted by PSI Anil Sharma under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Dr. Ishan Gupta JKPS.
During the investigation, the team ascertained the CCTV footage and interrogated the suspicious persons. After hectic efforts made by the special team, leads prevailed, and the main accused, namely Rahul Singh, son of Gopal Singh, a resident Near TRC Kishtwar, was arrested.
During his questioning, he disclosed that he had sold all the stolen property to the following accused persons, namely: Naseer Elahi, son of Chandi Sheikh, resident of Cherhar; Mohd Hussain, son of Mohd Akbar, resident of Malipeth Kishtwar; Javed Iqbal Sheikh son of Ghulam Haider Sheikh, resident of Malipeth Kishtwar and Sheikh Aqib Ishtiaq son Sheikh Ishtiaq Ahmed, resident of Hudri Kishtwar.
Upon revealing the names, they were called at PS where they disclosed that they had purchased the stolen items from the accused and kept them at their shops/residences.
On their disclosure, the police party along with the magistrate visited at the spot where stolen property is stored and recovered all the stolen items like, electric motors, water tanks, geysers, motorized cutters, sinks, pipe rolls, Paint, showers etc.
SSP Kishtwar has issued a stern warning to all potential burglars emphasizing the extensive CCTV coverage and round the clock monitoring by specialized teams.
The successful apprehension of this gang of thieves underscores the effectiveness of the CCTV surveillance unit of Kishtwar Police.
