Jammu: A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper was killed in “unprovoked” firing by Pakistan Rangers along the border in Sambba district of Jammu region, officials said.

Local news agency GNS quoted officials as saying that at about 12:20 a.m., Pakistan Rangers started firing at Narayanpur post in Ramgarh Samba.

“BSF also retaliated and the firing between the two sides continued for some time. A Head Constable with BSF namely Lal Farnn Kima was injured and immediately shifted to Community Health Centre Hospital at Ramgarh”, the officials said.

“After initial treatment, they said, the injured soldier was referred to GMC hospital Jammu for advanced treatment. However, the soldier succumbed to the injuries on way to the GMC”, they added.

Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary has confirmed the killing of the soldier.
